The Indian Pogostemon deccanensis (formerly known as Pogostemon erectus) forms dense groups of light green, coniferous stems. The plant can be used as a background but it is also particularly suitable as a peek in smaller or larger groups. The intense green colour is especially good at highlighting red plants planted next to them.

In good light conditions, the compact form is kept long and light due to the moderate growth rate and strong root nets of the plant. The group quickly becomes very close and should be thinned out regularly. The cut shoots form willingly side shoots from the bottom, just as planted top shoots willingly form new roots and grow further.
